KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of matches against Big Ten foe and No.55 ranked Indiana before battling Morehead State on Saturday, Feb. 6. The Broncos will face off with the Hoosiers at 10 a.m. and later take on the Eagles at 6 p.m. Indiana will be the third nationally ranked opponent the Broncos have faced this Spring. 

WMU, who is coming off a 7-0 win over UT-Martin followed by a 7-0 loss to No. 62 Tennessee last weekend, will enter Saturday at 4-2 overall with both losses coming against nationally ranked opponents. The Hoosiers will enter Saturday at 3-1 fresh off a 4-3 win over Cincinnati while the Eagles will come in at 0-3 and are coming off a 6-1 loss to East Tennessee State. 

Last weekend against UT-Martin, the Skyhawks claimed the first doubles match but the duos of Barbare Eristavi/Katja Fevralev in the No. 2 spot and Meika Ashby/Denise Azcui in the No. 3 spot both earned wins to give the Broncos the doubles point. In singles play, freshman Melina Lyubomirova earned a 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 1 spot to improve to 13-5 this season with the team-high in wins. Olivia Myers (No. 2), Tracy Kuhle (No. 3), Katja Fevralev (No. 4), Barbare Eristavi (No. 5) and Denise Azcui (No. 6) swept the singles matches with Kuhle being the match clincher. Eristavi battled back after losing the first set 6-4 to winning 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3).

In the second match against the Volunteers, Kuhle/Lyubomirova earned a 6-3 win in the No. 1 slot, but unfortunately that was the only match the Broncos would claim against the tough Volunteer squad. Lyubomirova fell 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 slot against No. 60 Sadie Hammond.
