KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Gymnast Anna Corbett was selected as the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for her performance last week in the tri-meet between Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
Corbett competed in all four events in the Broncos' victory over the Falcons and Eagles by scores of 195.275-195.050-193.575. It was the sixth best total score for the Broncos in program history. Anna finished as the top all-around gymnast not only in the meet between the three MAC schools, but also was top all-around gymnast in the MAC as a whole this week with a score of 39.125.
She bettered her performance from last week as she scored at least a 9.775 or better in all four events. In addition to her taking home the all-around title, she also won a share of her second straight vault title with a score of 9.775. She would go on to set a career-high in the balance beam with a score of 9.800, helping Western Michigan to its third-best beam score ever at 49.100.
In the classroom, Corbett has a 3.91 GPA in nursing. In order to be selected for Scholar Athlete of the Week a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
