KENT, Ohio- The Western Michigan gymnastics team totaled a 193.325 in their second meet of the season, but were edged in their first Mid-American Conference dual of the season at Kent State. The Golden Flashes recorded a 194.900.
Junior
Jessi Buis was the Broncos' lone individual winner in the meet, scoring a personal best 9.875 for the third time in career on the vault.
Freshman
Kelsey Hood continued to impress as an all-arounder, totaling a score of 38.950. She was runner-up on the beam, tying fellow Bronco freshman
Kira Hoy with a 9.750. Hood also placed third on both vault and floor exercise, scoring a 9.8 in both events. She had a 9.6 showing on the uneven bars.
Sophomore
Jessie Peszek had Western Michigan's top finish on the bars, placing fourth with a 9.7. Peszak and Buis tied for fifth on the beam, each with a 9.75.
Sophomore
Anna Corbett was WMU's second all-arounder and tallied a 37.750.
The Broncos (1-1 overall, 0-1 MAC) return to Kalamazoo Sunday, Feb. 1 to host Northern Illinois at 2 p.m.
