TULSA, Okla.-- Western Michigan was held hitless in the final four innings in a 13-2 loss at Oral Roberts Friday. The Broncos have two more chances against the Summit League favorite with games two and three Saturday and Sunday.
The Golden Eagles got to the Broncos early and often, totaling 16 hits and scoring in every inning but the third and sixth. Western Michigan's only runs came in the fifth, on a two-run single up the middle by designated hitter Jamie Simpson. Kyle Galbraith led off the inning with a with a double and Grant Simotes reached on an error by the shortstop.
Oral Roberts pounded out five home runs, two by Colby Price. ORU improved to 3-6 on the season while WMU fell to 2-9.
Brian Stroud (0-3) took the loss, going 4.2 innings and allowing eight runs on 10 hits. John Navage came in and threw 2.1 innings and freshman Patrick Duncan tossed the final frame.
Tim Cross was the only Bronco with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Jack Scanlon also doubled.
