Giden Named Preseason All-MAC For Second Straight Year

Giden Named Honorable Mention All-MAC

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan sophomore Miame Giden was named honorable mention All-Mid-American Conference following the 2009-10 women's basketball season. It marks the second straight season Giden has earned a post season award after being named to the MAC All-Freshman team last year.

Leading Western Michigan in scoring for the second year in a row, Giden concluded the regular season ranking 10th in the conference with 14.4 points per game. She also ranked second on the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg) and assists (41), as well as third in steals (43), three-pointers made  (27) and free-throw percentage (73.8 %).

Giden was WMU's top scorer in 14 contests and the team's leading rebounder in eight. Her 433 points this season brings her career total up to 805, as she will enter her junior season 195 points away from being the 22nd Bronco to score 1,000 points.

Other honors for Giden this season included an all-tournament team nod at the James Madison Invitational and twice being named MAC Player of the Week.

Western Michigan concluded the 2009-10 season with an overall record of 9-21, going 4-12 in conference play.
