KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan junior point guard
Tiera DeLaHoussaye was among the 52 names released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as an All-America regional finalist. The State Farm Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will review these 52 candidates and cut the list to 40 finalists on Thursday, March 20.
The 40 finalists will be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. The 30 remaining members who do not make the 10‑member All‑America Team receive Honorable Mention All-America honors.
Western Michigan has fielded five Honorable Mention All-Americans, three of those coming in the past six years. DeLaHoussaye will be looking to join the ranks of Bronco greats Pat Charity, Shelsea Erving, Kristin Koestier, Casey Rost and
Carrie Moore.
DeLaHoussaye collected First Team All-Mid-American Conference recognition this season and was named Defensive Player of the Year. Additionally, she set a conference record being named MAC Player of the Week on six occasions. She ranks third in the nation in assists (7.8) and eighth in steals (3.3), leading the MAC in both. She also ranked in the top 15 in the conference in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (6.1). Dishing out 250 assists, she set the WMU single-season assist record.
